Xu Kai
Vice-chair of University Council and Vice President
Shanghai University of Electric Power
Professor Xu Kai is an English Professor and an author of several translated books and articles on literature. He is currently the Vice- chair of University Council of Electric Power. Professor Xu Kai is a graduate from East China Normal University, with a Doctoral degree (PhD) in British and American literature. He is also a “Visiting Associate Professor” at University of Albany, a Visiting Scholar at the University of Queensland and La Trobe University in Australia.
He was a member of the France-China Young Leaders Program, the Head of Human Resource Office at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) and also the Dean of School of Foreign Languages at SUIBE. He has received numerous awards for his excellent works which includes Baosteel Excellent Teacher’s Award and the Australia-China Council 2012 Special Book Prize for Translation. His research works have won National Grants including the China National Social Science Research Funding and China Ministry of Education Social Science Research Funding.
The lecture will be in two folds,online and offline session. Students residing on campus will have the offline session in IEC Office Room 811. Students residing outside campus should kindly take note of the meeting details below;
The lecture consists of three parts; China and its history, Pillars of Chinese Culture and Shared Future. This lecture seeks to cover the timeline of the world cultures, Chinese civilization and the Different Schools of Thought on Chinese Philosophy.
