2021 WINTER VACATION ARRANGEMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS STAYING ON CAMPUS

In order to ensure a safe, healthy and an enjoyable winter holiday for all International Students residing on campus, the following requirements and procedures are to be followed;

 

1. REQUIREMENTS FOR COVID PREVENTION AND CONTROL IN WINTER VACATION

a. The winter vacation commenced on Saturday, 23rd January, 2021 and will end on Friday, 26th February, 2021. During this period, students are required to report their body temperature twice a day; in the morning and afternoon. In case of fever with a temperature higher than 37.3 ℃, the student leaving on campus with such condition should protect him or herself by wearing personal protection gears such as noise masks etc. The student should then dial the “Fever Special Line” of the University via 13341698296. The student will then be isolated and made to observe the necessary COVID- 19 protocols according to the arrangement of the University’s Hospital and also guide them to see a doctor in time; at the same time, they should report to the college counselors immediately, and the counselors should track and report the treatment situation on time. If the student having the fever is living outside the University’s premises, they should go to the local fever clinic by themselves. They are requested to undertake the nucleic acid test for COVID-19 and report to their College Counselor.

b. Every college is required by the University to implement the daily report system for the number of students in and out of the school and submit the daily report of students living on the University Campus as the unit. Therefore, students are requested to cooperate: In case of change of location, itinerary change, physical health status, high-risk areas, etc., students should report to their College Counselors in time, and then the counselors should report to the relevant person in charge of the college. Counselors should report students from high-risk areas separately.

c. International Students residing on campus do not need to leave the University’s premises.

d. Moreover, students are advised not to travel or go to high-risk areas of COVID-19 in China during the winter vacation.

2. PROCEDURE FOR LEAVING SCHOOL

a. From Tuesday, 23rd January, 2021, the examination and approval system for students entering and leaving the school during the winter vacation was been implemented. Each time a student enters and leave the school, the students should first apply to their college counselors and also upload their “Health Green Code” and body temperature data on the platform. The College Counselor will then report to the leader of the epidemic prevention and control group of the college for examination and approval.

b. Students who apply to stay outside the University’s premises for more than a day needs to submit their application form to their respective College Counselors at least three days in advance for approval by the Counselor, College, the International Education College, Student Office and other departments. After the approval has be granted, student must submit their temporary accommodation issued by the local police station within 24 hours to their college after leaving the school. During the period of staying outside campus, students are required to strictly abide by the laws and discipline of the Peoples Republic of China, comply with the requirements of community epidemic prevention and control and also cooperate with the university on the management of the epidemic prevention and control.

3. SAFETY REMINDERS DURING THE WINTER VACATION

a. SAFETY TIPS FOR EPIDEMIC PREVENTION

i. During the winter vacation, students are encouraged not to eat together, travel or be at crowded places.

ii. Wearing of masks should be encouraged, washing of hands frequently and also ensuring the “one-meter” awareness.

iii. Enhance regular physical exercises to strengthen the body and mind.

iv. Strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control requirements of the University for the 2021 winter vacation and the procedure for leaving and returning to school. Students are advised not to travel to risk areas of the epidemic two weeks to reopening in order to prepare to return to school.

b. TIPS FOR PREVENTING INTERNET FRAUD

i. Whenever a student receives a strange text message or phone call, much caution should be taken in addressing this situation. Students are advised not to reply such messages, call back the number or click the link given. Verification should be done through the official channel before any transaction is made.

ii. Students are encouraged not to share their personal information of their social media handles (Wechat, QQ etc).

iii. If a student encounters telecommunications fraud, he or she should first report to the public security agency as soon as possible. If the students realizes that his personal information such as ID card number and payment password has been hacked, they should promptly shut down the online payment function of their bank account and modify their bank card password to protect their personal property if necessary.

c. SAFETY TIPS FOR GOING OUT

i. Students are encouraged to obey traffic regulations in the city and not to take illegal vehicles as well.

ii. Students who encounter problems while outside campus should contact their College Counselors or the relevant teachers in time for help.

iii. When you go out, always pay attention to the safety of your belongings. Don't relax your vigilance. Valuables must always be in your pocket.

d. OTHER SAFETY TIPS

i. During your stay in school, please strictly abide by the student dormitory management regulations, and outsiders is strictly prohibited.  It is strictly forbidden to use high-power electrical appliances in the dormitory area, such as electric heaters, electric stoves, fast heating, electric irons, electric hot pots, rice cookers, electric frying pans, microwave ovens, induction cookers, refrigerators and other high-power electrical equipment;  Protective devices, electrical equipment that does not meet safety requirements; do not pull the power cord indiscriminately, and do not wind or extend the socket power cord to the bed; mobile phone and other charging equipment, various sockets, computers and other products must meet national quality standards, and  Use in the presence of personnel. If the personnel are not present, the electrical appliances must not be plugged into the socket; do not smoke, drink, make loud noises, throw debris in the dormitory; do not store flammable and explosive dangerous goods in the dormitory.

ii.  When leaving the dormitory, be sure to turn off all power supplies and electrical appliances in the dormitory, and unplug the wiring board socket; at the same time, clean up the dormitory and do not pile up flammable items such as wooden boxes on the balcony; lock the doors and windows when you go out, and keep valuables properly to improve self-prevention awareness.  Report to the duty room of the dormitory when leaving the dormitory.

iii. Keep communication open, and contact the counselor in time if you encounter major problems during the holiday.

iv. Students who apply to leave the school must raise their safety awareness and ensure the safety of life and property.  It is especially reminded that international students who apply to leave school or live off-campus, all safety responsibilities during off-campus accommodation shall be borne by themselves.

4. RETURNING TO SCHOOL PRECAUTIONS

a. After the winter vacation, the return date for the next academic semester is from Friday, 26th February, 2021 to Saturday, 27th February, 2021. Students are to wait for a follow-up notice for the return date of make-up students. In addition, students are not required to return to school in advance during the winter vacation.

b. If you apply to return to school on the day you leave school, you should first submit your return to school application and return to school after approval.  Students who travel outside Shanghai cannot return to school.

c. Those who apply to leave school and live off-campus are not allowed to return to school before the University official reopening date.  Students who apply to return to campus after semester must submit an application to the college at least 2 weeks in advance, and must submit a valid nucleic acid test report within 7 days when returning to school.

d. Do a self-health observation 14 days before the beginning of school (that is from Friday, 12th February, 2021). Teachers and students returning to Shanghai from high-risk areas in China should implement centralized (home) health management for 14 days according to relevant requirements, and carry out two times of nucleic acid detection of COVID-19. Only when the test results meet the requirements can they apply for returning to school. Teachers, students and staff returning to school from cities where medium and high-risk areas are located in China will undergo a nucleic acid test for COVID-19. Only when the test results meet the relevant requirements can they apply for returning to school. If the family members of teachers and students who live with each other have returned to Shanghai from overseas or high-risk areas in China from Monday, 1st February, 2021, the relevant teachers and students should report to the school when they return to school, and do a  self-health management 7 days after returning to school (they need to wear masks, take temperature, do not gather, and report any situation at any time).

e. 14 days before returning to school, if there is a change in the location of cross city and out of Shanghai, especially in the high-risk areas, it is necessary to report to the counselors in time.
