Registration Notice
Second Academic Semester (Spring, 2021)
Dear students:
In accordance with the spirit and dictates of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission's document on the opening of the spring semester; in addition to ensuring the smooth and orderly start of the second academic semester of 2021 with the principle of "Wrong Area, Wrong Level, and Batch", the following are the requirement for students returning to campus:
1. Registration Timeline
Fourth Year Undergraduate Students and All Graduate Students in China | 26th February, 2021 | Saturday |

First, Second, and Third Year Undergraduate Students in China | 27th February, 2021 | Sunday |
Registration Procedure:
Please download the registration form and send it to our emailbox (yqzheng@shmtu.edu.cn)address before registration deadline.If the student does not register on time without a reason, the student status will be automatically cancelled.
3. Students Returning to School by Category:
Before returning to school and registering, each student must duly communicate with their respective college counselor and teacher, and confirm their return to school registration process and requirements according to their own situation:
(1) Students Returning from Risk Areas to the University:
Students from medium and high risk areas in mainland China are not to return to school for the time being. They can only apply to return to school after the risk level in the area reduce to low risk.
Students who come from or pass through districts reported as medium - high risk areas or areas declared as closed management, are advised to report to school after the local risk is reduced to low. For those who really need to return to school, can access off-campus hotels services. Nonetheless, a 14 day strict centralized health management check is implemented with two nucleic acid detection test conducted for COVID-19. Only when the detection results meet the relevant requirements can they apply to return to school.
Students who have transferred from a medium - high risk to low risk areas, and those who have been transferred from medium - high risk to low risk areas within 14 days, after returning to Shanghai, off-campus hotels will implement a seven day centralized health management check with two nucleic acid detection test conducted for COVID-19. Only when the detection results meet the relevant requirements can they apply to return to school. Additionally, the student will be required to carry out a seven day self-health management check after entering the campus. However, students who transferred from a medium - high risk area to a low - risk area for more than 14 days will be classified as a student from low-risk areas and shall be allowed to return to the university.
Concerned students living with a family member(s) who recently returned from overseas or a medium – high risk areas in mainland China are to promptly report to their respective college counselor in time and do a seven day self-health management check at home.
(2) Students with Related Case(s) Returning to School:
Students or their family member(s) who have a tested positive for COVID-19 nucleic acid test or deemed as a suspected case will temporarily not be allowed to return campus.
Students deemed as confirmed case (thus, having COVID-19), will not be allowed to return to school for the time being. Would be allowed to return to campus only after one month of recovery with a nucleic acid test result meeting the relevant requirements can they apply to return to school.
If the students are close contacts or secret contacts, they need 14 days of centralized (home) health management check and nucleic acid testing again after completing the isolation health management in accordance with the relevant requirements of the city.
After 14 days of centralized (home) health management (calculated from the date of the last contact with the relevant case(s)), the student would have to take two COVID-19 nucleic acid detection tests before applying to return to the university.
(3) Students from Low-Risk Areas Returning to the University:
Application method: start self-health management 14 days before returning to school. Before returning to school, apply for admission through the online digital service center platform. The counselors and teachers would check the regional risk level and health information for approval. After approval, they will receive their admission to return to campus information.
Admission method: students can enter the school with their own campus card and health code with their information checked by the campus security officers in addition with their body temperature measurement.
Private cars are not allowed to enter the school. Students who take private cars need to get off and enter the university through Gate No. 1. Other students are recommended to enter the school from Gate No. 3 and Gate No. 5. The school will arrange shuttle buses (from 8:00 am -18:00 pm, Beijing local time) at these gates (Gate No. 1, Gate No. 3, and Gate No. 5) to facilitate the orderly and smooth movement of students to their respective dormitories.
The dormitory area is under closed management. When entering the dormitory, the dormitory administrator will check the campus card, and measure their body temperature before they will be allowed to enter the dormitory.
3. Precautions Before and After Returning to Campus:
Truthfully report the risk situation and itinerary information of your place of departure to your counselors.
If you have fever and other symptoms before returning to school, you should postpone your return to school.
Wear a mask on the way back to school and protect yourself.
Implement self-health management for 14 days after returning to school. If necessary, do not have meals, gather, visit, go out of the campus. Additionally, endeavour to daily measure your body temperature twice a day and wear a nose mask in and outside campus.
