A Party Led by Ann Matear —the Dean of School of Languages and Area Studies of the University of Portsmouth visited SMU

On April 23rd, two visitors came from University of Portsmouth, Dr. Ann Matear, the Dean of School of Languages and Area Studies, and Dr. Peter Starie, Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences Department, visited the International Education College of SMU. Prof. SHI Chaojian, Dean of International Education College, and the teachers of The Center for Chinese Studies warmly received the guests. Two sides had an in-depth and detailed conversation on issues concerning the studies in SMU of students from University of Portsmouth.

In the beginning, both sides gave a brief introduction of their universities respectively, and then exchanged their ideas, particularly on the feasibility, training objectives and credit requirements of the studies in SMU of the college junior students majored in Applied Linguistics or International Relations and Languages; and they also talked about the teaching facilities,oversea students administration and service supplied by SMU. In the end, the two sides had a further discussion about the courses curriculum and its requirements in detail, and both are looking forward to further cooperation.
