On June 16th, the 3rd SMU international students summer school was successfully held. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, Shi Chaojian, the Dean of International Education College, Yu Hongrong, Director of International Office, representative teacher from Plymouth Mike Pengelly and 51 international students from different countries and regions attended the opening ceremony.
Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU delivered the welcome speech. He mentioned that SMU had a long history of cooperation with Plymouth, and both universities have created plenty of opportunities for the teaching faculty and students. The students who attended the summer school of last year gave us a good feedback, and we are also learning from the management experience, hoping that the students this year could not only learn more about the Chinese culture and society, but also be an ambassador between our two countries.
The representative teacher from Plymouth Mike expressed thanks for the elaborate preparations and arrangements, and looked forward to the one month stay in SMU.
This summer school program will last for one month. The international students will learn Chinese language and take the lectures of Chinese culture and tradition, economy, legal system, etc. Besides, they will also have the cultural experience activities on the weekends.
