Recently, the New Year Party was held for International Students in SMU. All international students, together with the heads and teachers of relevant departments of SMU, gathered together to celebrate their achievements in 2018 and welcome the approach of 2019.

In the award presentation session, 27 students from Pakistan, Kenya, Cambodia and other countries were honored for their outstanding performance in the previous academic year. Students witnessed the awarding presentation expressed that they felt greatly inspired and would study more diligently and make the best of their time in SMU.

The international students also prepared a variety of talent shows and performances, including dancing, singing and poem recitation. Shi Rui from Nepal recited a piece of Song Ci “Red All Over the River-Bristle with Anger” (written by Chinese national hero Yue Fei in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279)). The dance of “Song Xian” (Praise for Confucius) was performed by students from Panama, Turkmenistan, Congo and other countries. The performances featured Chinese cultural elements and reflected their passion for Chinese traditional culture. They  promoted the understanding and communication between China and foreign cultures and helped push the party to the climax. The party ended with a medley of Chinese and English songs performed by students from the SMU-RMU Program.
