SMU Overseas students participated in “Running Together”Public Welfare Activity

On May 19th ,“Running Together”——the 2019 Shanghai Youth Charity Run  kicked off by the Dishui lake at Lingang New Harbor City. The event was jointly initiated by Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League, Construction and Management Committee of Lingang, Shanghai Administration of Sports, Cooperation and Exchange Office of Shanghai Municipal Government and organized by Shanghai Youth Federation and its member organizations.

177 competition teams, 104 families teams from Shanghai Youth Federation and its member organizations and volunteers took part in the event. International Education College of SMU organized overseas students to participate in the meaningful Charity Run as well.

At 8 am, leaded by staffs of Lingang Dong’an Liancheng community, the students arrived at the venue and were divided into two groups, namely Shengang International Team 1 and Shengang International Team 2. Every student was provided with an event bag and they took pictures at the assigned place and attended the opening ceremony. The two international teams soon attracted the attention of other runners and spectators. The charity run officially started at 9 am. Along the whole 10-kilometires-course, students enjoyed the gorgeous views, genial sunshine, gentle breeze and the satisfactory service from supply stations. When they finally arrived at the finishing line, they were congratulated by the enthusiastic volunteers and awarded commemorative medals. The Charity Run came to a successful end with the music played over the whole event venue, all the students rejoiced in singing and dancing.
