On July 1st, Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), after preparation for over half a year, declared the successful opening of the Summer School Program for students from Copenhagen Business School (CBS). Prof. RUAN Wei, Dean of International Education College (IEC) of SMU, IEC teachers, management team of the program and international students from CBS participated in the opening ceremony.
In the ceremony, Prof. RUAN extended his warmest welcome to the students and made a brief introduction of the 110-year history of SMU and its current development. He then presented the background and arrangement of the program. He pointed out that compared with the traditional summer school programs that offered more courses about Chinese and Chinese culture, this program is innovative, which features for professional lectures on shipping and logistics as well as the opportunities to visit relevant enterprises. He believed that in the month to come, it’ll be a great chance for the students to acquire more specialized knowledge about the development of Chinese shipping and logistics industry and meanwhile for them to explore the Chinese culture and acquaint themselves with the Chinese society.
In the four-week program, not only can the international students learn the Chinese language and Chinese traditional culture, but also they will have 8 specialization modules on “the development of Chinese ports and shipping industry”, “upgrading service of Chinese shipping industry in the context of the Road and Belt Initiative”, “the construction of smart ports” , etc, and visit to 8 companies and institutions such as Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration, the PhaseⅣof Yangshan Ports, Shanghai Shipping Exchange and Oriental Logistics Group in Wai Gaoqiao area, etc.
