From October 26 to 30, the advanced training course of international maritime technology development and new era maritime education sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and organized by Shanghai Maritime University was held in Shanghai Maritime University. More than 50 representatives of maritime colleges and maritime authorities from 14 countries participated in the training through the Internet.

At the opening ceremony, vice president Shi Xin, on behalf of the university, expressed his gratitude and welcome to the trainees from all over the world for overcoming the difficulties of the epidemic and actively participating in the training course. He pointed out that intelligent shipping and green shipping are undoubtedly the main trends of today's global shipping industry. The continuous changes of the global shipping industry have brought new demands to the world and provided more opportunities and challenges for maritime education. Later, he introduced the working experience of Shanghai Maritime University in providing high-quality online teaching for students at home and abroad during the epidemic.

The training course was organized by the International Education College, and the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA) provided the resources of international maritime experts. During this period, representatives of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and relevant universities were invited to participate in the experience sharing, and jointly discussed the impact of the latest maritime technology and the development of international maritime conventions on maritime education, the latest practice of maritime education quality management, the future development strategy of maritime education, and the cooperation between maritime colleges, which provided effective countermeasures for the education and training of seafarers in the post epidemic era.

This project aims to show the achievements of maritime education in China to “the belt and the road” countries, share the experience of maritime education and ponder the future development of education, promote the cooperation of maritime education in the "the belt and the road" countries, and promote the construction of a high level maritime university with global influence.
