On November 2, the Malaysia maritime technical training project of MTCC-Asia was successfully held in Shanghai Maritime University. 25 representatives of Malaysian national and local maritime authorities participated in the training. Vice president Shi Xin, heads of International Education College, Maritime Technology Cooperation Center for Asia, Merchant Marine College and other relevant departments attended the event.

Firstly, vice president Shi Xin, on behalf of the university, welcomed representatives of the Malaysian maritime authorities to participate in the training. He briefly introduced the development of the university, reviewed the history of cooperation between the university and the Malaysian maritime authorities and relevant institutions. At the same time, he pointed out that the novel coronavirus epidemic should not stop the development of shipping technology. He hoped that the two sides would carry out cooperation in the fields of shipping transportation and maritime management in the future to continue to contribute to the development of shipping industry in Asia.

The training was jointly organized by Shanghai Maritime University, MTCC-Asia and Marine Department Malaysia, and co-organized by Merchant Marine College and Maritime Transportation Training Institute. The training was carried out in the form of network, including ship energy efficiency promotion in Malaysia, theory and practice on ship speed reduction for promotion of energy efficiency, and in-situ introduction of the research projects in SMU integrated engine room lab, etc. It aims to disseminate the greenhouse gas technology, convention and maritime standards and the IMO sulfur emission limit of IMO MARPOL Annex VI, and supports the IMO's initial greenhouse gas emission reduction initiative, and “the belt and the road” initiative will also be promoted.

This Malaysia maritime technology activity is one of the annual plans of MTCC-Asia. The purpose is to improve the ship energy efficiency technology and operation level in Asia through in-depth point-to-point training and exchange with Asian maritime countries. Next, MTCC-Asia will carry out one-to-one technical training activities with Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines.
