Liu Yaqiong, associate professor, graduated from Xinyang Normal University with a bachelor's degree in Chinese language and literature in 2001, from Fudan University with a master's degree in Chinese language and philology in 2004, and a doctorate in 2010. She did academic visit in University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2008 to 2009; and in University of Alberta in Canada (UOA) from 2016 to 2017. She has been working in Shanghai Maritime University since 2004, and now is an Associate Professor in the International Education College.
She has taught undergraduate courses such as Chinese Grammar and Rhetoric, Professional Chinese, Chinese Traditional Culture, Modern Chinese Culture, Scientific and Technical Literature Reading, Intermediate Chinese Translation and Public Chinese for undergraduate students, and courses for international students including Intensive Reading of Intermediate Chinese, Intensive Reading of Advanced Chinese, Oral Primary Chinese, Basic Chinese Listening, Primary Chinese Listening, Intermediate Chinese Listening, Reading of Newspapers and Newspapers, Writing of Chinese.
The research interest is the Chinese grammar based on function and interaction, the Chinese language style and Chinese teaching. She has published more than 20 papers in Chinese Language, Contemporary Rhetoric, Dictionary Research and Chinese Learning, and published a monograph, edited a dictionary and three monographs. She has presided over two provincial and ministerial level projects. She has won the Shanghai philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award (second prize of thesis) and "Liu Haoqing excellent teacher (2012)", "Liu Haoqing excellent educator (2019)" and etc..
