In accordance with the relevant provisions of the regulations of the People's Republic of China on academic degrees and the Interim Implementation Measures of the regulations on academic degrees of the People's Republic of China, combined with the actual situation of our university, we hereby formulate the following implementation rules for the awarding of bachelors’ degrees to ordinary full-time undergraduates.
ARTICLE 1
The school awards a bachelor's degree in accordance with the disciplines specified in the relevant documents of the Ministry of Education
ARTICLE 2
The bachelor’s degree certificate of ordinary full-time undergraduates is awarded to undergraduate graduates of ordinary higher education.
ARTICLE 3
All ordinary full-time undergraduates of our school who meet the following requirements can apply for the award of a bachelor's degree:
1. Support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, support the socialist system, abide by the law, and behave upright
2. They can meet the requirements of the academic plan , and are allowed to graduate after passing the examination.
3. The results of their course learning and graduation design (graduation thesis or other graduation practice links) indicate that:
(1). They have mastered the basic theory, professional knowledge and basic skills of their discipline.
(2). Have the preliminary ability to engage in scientific research or be responsible for special technical work.
ARTICLE 4
Fresh graduates who have one of the following conditions during their studies will not be awarded a bachelor’s degree:
1. Students who are not eligible for graduation
2. Those who have received a demerit or higher penalty for cheating in an exam
3. Those with a GPA less than 1.7
4. Other students who have been examined and determined by the academic degree evaluation committee of the university not to confer a degree.
ARTICLE 5
Other provisions are as follows:
1. The degree award at other times due to early or delayed graduation shall be submitted to the school’s degree evaluation committee for confirmation after the academic affairs office reviews the award.
2. The school degree evaluation committee is responsible for researching and dealing with controversial issues and other matters in the degree-granting process, and has the right to revoke the degree-granting decision that violates the regulations. For graduates who have been awarded a bachelor’s degree, if it is found that they violate the provisions of the regulations of the People’s Republic of China on academic degrees, the Interim Measures for the implementation of the regulations on academic degrees of the People’s Republic of China and these rules, their bachelor’s degree may be revoked upon reconsideration by the academic degree evaluation committee of the university.
ARTICLE 6
Bachelor's degree will not be supplemented. Lost or damaged bachelor degree certificates will not be reissued. Upon application, the school can issue a bachelor degree certificate. The bachelor degree certificate has the same effect as the original certificate.
ARTICLE 7
These rules shall be implemented from 2017 students. Students who enrolled in September 2016 or before will be implemented in accordance with the Shanghai Maritime University Bachelor Degree Award Work Implementation Rules (Shanghai Municipality Education Commission [2005] No. 264), which will be implemented by the Office of Academic Affairs Responsible for interpretation.
