Courses and Schedule

1. Length of Study

1. one semester (16 weeeks); Program includes five-days, three-days courses.

2. Spring Semester opens in March and Fall Semester opens in September.

2. Courses

1. Chinese Language Course: from Level1 to level8 (adjusted according to actual conditions during the COVID-19 epidemic); Classes will be held with three or more registered students at each level.

2. Course includes intensive reading, extensive reading, listening, speaking, and HSK etc (Please refer to [Education Program - Chinese Language Program]).

3. Free-charged Elective Courses: Chinese Traditional Painting, Handicraft etc. Classes will be held with three or more registered students at each course.

3. Class Period and Size

Each period has 45 minutes, and each class takes two periods. Class size: 3 - 20 students. In case one class has more than 20 students, a new class of the same level will be set.

★ Holidays: Academic Calendar will follow the national statutary holidays of China.

Application:

1. Application Date

Spring Semester application starts from January and Fall Semester application starts from July.

2. Eligibility

Applicants should be over 16 and under 45 years old in good health.

3. Application Mode

1. Online: Applicant should prepare required documents and send email to smuccs@163.com.

2. Accommodation Application: Applicant can apply for a double room in the dormitory directly on the application form. No more dormitory application will be accepted if the reservation is full (Dormitory application will not be accepted during the COVID-19 epidemic).

Admission Procedure

1. SMU receives the application materials, the review will be initiated.

2. Once admitted, applicant should pay registration fee.

3. JW202 Form Application.

4. Once successed, applicant should pay tuition and buy insurance.

5. SMU will issue Notice of Admission and JW202 Form to applicant.

6. Applicant should take Passport , Passport Photo (one inch)，Notice of Admission, JW202 Form, Physical Examination Record for Foreigners to Chinese Embassy or Consulate for visa application.

★ Students with student (X) visa shall register with the local police station within 24 hours after entry; Students with X1 visa shall apply to Entry-Exit Admin bureau of Shanghai for residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry.

Payment

1. Tuition and Related fees

1. Registration fee ：RMB400∕person

2. Tuition: Five-day Class 8000; Three-day Class 8000; HSK Intensive Training: 500

3. Textbook: RMB200-300 person based on the student’s level

4. Accommodation: RM40/person/day

2. Tuition Fee Discount

1. Students who have chosen the Five-days Chinese Course for more than two consecutive semesters have tuition discount from second semester,which is RMB7,700;

2. The old student introduces the freshman study, and explains at the time of registration, the freshman's tuition fee have 5% discount; 

3. Husband and wife, father and son (daughter), mother and son (daughter), brothers and sisters apply at the same time, one's tuition fee have 10% discount. 

3. Payment Mode:

Bank Transfer

★ Please mark “Student’ Name”, “IEC” on the bank-transfer bill and send the total number of money and transfer letter to smuccs@163.com;

Completion

At the end of one semester, student will receive a Completion Certificate issued by IEC if he/she finishes required class periods, has good attendance and passes the exams.
